\"maria04_100x100\"I am an Associate Professor in Photogrammetry – National Technical University of Athens<\/strong><\/a> and an affiliated Researcher at the Computational Vision and Robotics Lab<\/a> of the Institute of Computer Science<\/strong><\/a>,\u00a0Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas<\/strong><\/a>. I hold a Ph.D in Photogrammetry (IGP Group<\/a>) from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETHZ)<\/strong><\/a> .<\/p>\n

In the past I served as a Research Associate at the Geomatics Department of the University of Melbourne<\/strong><\/a> and the Cooperative Research Center for Spatial Information (CRC-SI)<\/strong><\/a> in Melbourne, Australia, as well as a postdoctoral fellow at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. I collaborated with industries in the 3D spatial data capture and processing, including \u00a0Leica Geosystems (USA, Switzerland)<\/strong><\/a>, North West Group (Canada)<\/strong><\/a>, Pasco Corp. (Japan)<\/strong><\/a>. I also held academic positions as a visiting assistant professor at the Computer Science Department<\/a> of the University of Crete<\/a>, Greece (2012-2014) and a visiting lecturer and postdoctoral fellow at the Aristotle University of Thesaloniki (2006-2007). In recent years, I have \u00a0held the position of Research Executive at ORamaVR S.A<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

My research lies is in the converging areas of Computer Vision and Photogrammetry <\/strong>and have been actively involved in more than 25 international, EU- and national- funded research projects<\/strong>, in the areas of Computer Vision and Photogrammetry for robotic, smart environment, VR\/AR, aerial, health, archaeological, architectural applications and my group’s research interest is with respect to 2D\/3D object extraction and tracking, 6D pose estimation, 3D reconstruction and image matching, synthetic image generation.<\/p>\n
