\"maria04_100x100\"I am an Associate Professor of Photogrammetry at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA)<\/a>, where I lead the POSELab research group<\/a> within the Laboratory of Photogrammetry<\/a>. I am also an affiliated Researcher at the Computational Vision and Robotics Lab<\/a> of the Institute of Computer Science<\/a>,\u00a0Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas (FORTH)<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Research profile<\/h2>\n

My research lies at the intersection of photogrammetry, geometric computer vision and robotic perception. My group’s current research focuses on generalisable 3D perception, unseen-object 6D pose estimation, 3D reconstruction and shape representation, generative modelling, novel-view synthesis, and uncertainty-aware evaluation. Research spans diverse real-world contexts, including robotic and interactive systems, smart environments, augmented and mixed reality, and the documentation of built, natural and cultural-heritage environments.<\/p>\n

Academic and professional background<\/h2>\n

I received my PhD in Photogrammetry<\/a> from ETH Z\u00fcrich<\/a>, where my doctoral research addressed adaptive multi-image matching and digital surface-model generation from airborne linear-array imagery. The work was developed in collaboration with Leica Geosystems<\/a> during the transition to digital airborne photogrammetry. The dissertation, Adaptive Multi-Image Matching for DSM Generation from Airborne Linear Array CCD Data<\/em>, is available through the ETH Z\u00fcrich Research Collection<\/a>.<\/p>\n

I subsequently held research and academic positions at the University of Melbourne<\/a>\u00a0 in Australia, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki<\/a>, the University of Crete<\/a> and FORTH<\/a>. These appointments allowed me to work across photogrammetry, computer vision, robotics and human\u2013computer interaction, extending my research from aerial and close-range reconstruction to visual perception for interactive and robotic systems. My professional experience also includes research and development collaboration with Leica Geosystems<\/a> in Switzerland and the United States, North West Geomatics in Canada, PASCO Corporation<\/a> in Japan, and the position of Research Executive at ORamaVR<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In 2020, I joined NTUA as Assistant Professor of Photogrammetry and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2024. At NTUA, I established POSELab<\/a> as an independent research group investigating reliable and generalisable spatial perception through geometric modelling, machine learning and systematic experimental evaluation.<\/p>\n

Alongside my academic research, I have contributed to more than 30 European, international and nationally funded projects and have coordinated major European initiatives in trustworthy AI, robotic perception, smart environments and human\u2013robot collaboration. This activity has enabled me to develop and validate research in close collaboration with academic, technological and industrial partners.<\/p>\n
